Spitbraais are a firm favourite at social gatherings, such as weddings, birthdays, and corporate events, and it is often served with a variety of side dishes, such as salads, bread, and vegetables. One of the benefits of Spitbraai is that it is relatively simple to prepare, and it requires minimal equipment. However, achieving the perfect Spitbraai requires patience, attention to detail, and a good understanding of how to control the temperature of the heat source to ensure that the meat is cooked to perfection.

At a Spitbraai function, the meat is usually carved off the spit and served directly to guests. This adds an element of entertainment to the meal and creates a unique and memorable experience for guests.
